Introduction

Roadtrip ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website.

Information We Collect

We collect minimal information to provide and improve our fuel cost calculator service:

  • Usage data: We use analytics tools to understand how users interact with the app, including pages visited, features used, and general usage patterns.
  • Location data: If you grant permission, we may use your location to provide nearby fuel prices and route calculations.
  • Device information: Basic device information such as operating system, app version, and device type for debugging and compatibility purposes.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • Licence plate data: We do not send vehicle licence plate numbers to website analytics providers. If you enter a plate for vehicle lookup, it is sent securely to the vehicle lookup service to identify your car and is not persisted by our website calculator. Mobile apps can retain the vehicle, including its plate, on your device and with saved trips.
  • Website calculators: Our public website calculators can be used without an account. The mobile apps use accounts for saved trips and account features, as described below.

Mobile accounts and trips

When you sign in with Google, Apple, an email link, or an email and password, we process your account identifier, email address, and the name provided by your sign-in provider. We use Supabase for authentication. Roadtrip stores account settings and saved trips, including route locations, vehicle information, and calculated costs, to provide your history and trip features. Routes and vehicle lookups are processed by our map, routing, and vehicle-data providers. Location permission is optional; you can enter places manually.

If you share a trip link, anyone who receives that link may see its route, vehicle, and cost details. Only share trips you are comfortable making available to those recipients.

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics and PostHog to understand website usage, calculator reliability, and which features are useful. We do not send raw route locations, coordinates, vehicle search text, licence plates, or shared-trip URLs to these analytics providers. PostHog uses memory-only tracking without analytics cookies, session replay, or user profiles.

Our mobile apps use Mixpanel to understand feature usage and reliability. Mobile analytics can include an account identifier, account profile information, device information, and trip or station interactions, including route locations. Feedback you choose to submit in versions with an in-app feedback prompt may also be recorded to help us improve the app. These mobile practices are separate from the website analytics described above. Versions that offer subscriptions use RevenueCat and the app store to process subscription status and purchase history. The new Roadtrip Android app from Kodeword Limited (com.kodeword.roadtrip), version 1.0, does not offer subscriptions or in-app purchases and does not initialize RevenueCat.

Android maps use Google Maps. Its SDK collects device and request metadata, crash information, your IP address, a Maps-specific identifier, and map interactions such as panning and zooming to maintain and improve Google services. Google processes this information under its privacy policy.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We use service providers to host the app, authenticate accounts, calculate routes, look up vehicles and fuel prices, handle support, and measure usage. These providers process the information needed to deliver their services. We may also disclose information when required by law.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect any information we process. However, no electronic transmission or storage method is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Account deletion and your choices

You can request deletion of your Roadtrip account and associated account and saved-trip data from Settings in the app or through our account deletion page. We verify that the request comes from the account owner before deleting data. Information we must retain for legal obligations, security, or transaction records may be kept for those purposes; we will explain any applicable exceptions when handling your request. Removing the app alone does not delete your account or cancel an existing app-store subscription.

Children's Privacy

Our app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
