Roadtrip 3.0 is out now on the App Store. We rebuilt the whole app natively for iPhone, and for the first time it runs on iPad too. It does the same job it always has: tell you what the fuel will cost before you leave. It now looks and feels like it belongs on your phone.
If you already use Roadtrip, update and carry on. Your account, your saved cars, your past trips and your Pro subscription all come with you. You won't need to sign in again.

See the petrol cost from A to B
The Roadtrip app easily shows the cost to drive from A to B in your exact car model. It's super easy to use – just type in your car reg plate – plus it's completely free to see petrol prices, with no ads.
What's new
Built natively for iPhone. The old app was built with a cross-platform toolkit. 3.0 is written in Apple's own SwiftUI, so the map and sheets behave the way the rest of your phone does.
Roadtrip on iPad. On a wide screen your trip sits in a panel beside the map instead of covering it. Rotate the iPad or resize the window and your trip stays where you left it.
More of the map. Drag the map and the trip sheet tucks down to a single line so you can look around. Tap it to bring it back.
Every fuel station at a glance. In the UK, and in New South Wales and Queensland in Australia, the map shows pump prices for the stations around you, grouped when you zoom out. Tap one for all its fuel grades, cheaper stations nearby and directions.
Clearer when things go wrong. If a route can't be found or you're offline, the app now says what happened and what to try, instead of a generic error.
What hasn't changed
Enter where you're going and what you drive. Roadtrip looks up your car's real fuel economy, checks current local fuel prices and gives you the cost.

Why we rebuilt it
Roadtrip started in New Zealand in 2021 as a quick way to answer one question: how much will the petrol cost to get there? It now works in more than 40 countries and has priced hundreds of thousands of trips.
The original app got us a long way, but it was getting harder to maintain. Rebuilding it natively, on new servers, gives us a base we can keep improving for years.

An Android version, built from scratch in the same way, is in testing now. We'll share more when it's ready.
